Why would I start a blog now? Is there some great event in my life triggering this behavior? Not really, but a group of small events have come together. I think most people would call it "mid-life crisis". I guess it was this or a sports car.
Mr. Higgy Piggie and I have been talking for quite a while about "other things to do." You know, besides work and general house stuff. If we retire early (the current plan) are we really going to have a fulfilling life with the other, non-work bits. When I was younger, I always had about 10 things going, with at least 3 or 4 that I was really excited about. Now, not so much.
Anyway, I am trying to find something, somewhere to expand my, well, life. Re-reading parts of "Assassination Vacation" I realize what really good writing feels like. I've always felt my writing was a bit unnatural (stiff? well, there you go -- struggling already), and there's only one way to get better at anything. Just plug away. I figure, this is cheap, basically easy, and, if I stop after 1 month, who is really going to make a fuss?
So, here goes nothing.

Writing this on your one-year "Garfield Statue" anniversary date, you've done exactly what you started out to accomplish, and more. You've written the happy and sad, the introspective, the rants -- and through all of the words, your heart shows itself. Your words are good words, Angie. Better than good, in fact.
Congratulations, one year later.
